Course Modules

I. Introduction to Fashion and History of Costume
  • Understand the cultural and economic factors that influenced the evolution of fashion
  • Learn about the origin of fashion and changes in trend from centuries.
  • Research and get inspired from the past from any era and implement it in your own designs
II. Color Theory
  • Understand the use and importance of color selection and its significant role in design process
  • From the color wheel and the different color schemes derived from it, learn how to employ colors more effectively in your designs.
III. Fashion Illustration and Basic Silhouettes
  • Introduction to basics of sketching a human figure to advance fashion figures with different postures and silhouettes.
  • Illustrate fashion ideas into fashion sketches using different techniques by applying textures, color patterns and details.
IV. Pattern Making and Garments Construction
  • Produce accurate patterns using suitable tools to construct garments.
  • Learn the complete process of pattern making and sewing the garment to a desired style with appropriate measurements.
V. Textures and Fabric
  • Render different fabric textures using various color mediums and know the names and pricing of different fabrics available in the market.
VI. Surface Ornamentation (Embroidery)
  • Learn the art and skills of hand embroidery stiches and how to apply it on desired motifs on upholstery or garments.
VII. Draping
  • Execute the draped moulage from the dress form into pattern and eventually constructing it into the final garment.
  • Understanding the concept of draping on a dress form to get a desired pattern from it.
VIII. Portfolio
  • Designing an innovative collection to a theme derived from an inspiration by creating a mood board and color palette and brainstorming ideas for the final silhouettes and designs.
IX. Image Styling
  • Explore the various fields of fashion styling and brief knowledge on career and professional options.
X. Management and Marketing
  • Acquire knowledge on key skills such as merchandising, buying, logistics, promotion, advertising and trends analysis to support the product.
  • Understanding a fashion business plan and its processes and market needs.
